The sister died on a saturday night, but no one knew who did it. The mom was in her garden picking flowers. The dad was with the cook. The cook was surrounded by knives. The kid was at school.
Who did it?

The kid did it because the school isn't open on Saturdays.

A man walks down a street filled with different colored houses. He passes a red house made with red brick. A black house made with black brick. A yellow house made with yellow brick. He also passes an orange house made with orange brick. Next to the orange house, he sees a green house.
What is the green house made of?

Glass. It's a greenhouse. As in growing plants.

Before they are blindfolded, 3 women are told that each one will have either a red or blue cross painted on her forehead. When the blindfolds are removed, each women is supposed to raise her hand if she sees a red cross and to drop her hand when she figures out her own cross color.

The 3 women are blindfolded and a red cross is painted on all of their foreheads. The blindfolds are removed. After looking at each other, the women raise their hands simultaneously. After a short time, one of the women lowers her hand and says, "My cross is red."
How did she reason it out?

One of the women reasons as follows:
The other 2 can't determine their color. This means that I too have a red cross. Call the 3 women A,B and C, and A is the one that lowered her hand. Consider A's initial reaction. She looks at B and C and notices they both have a red cross. Naturally, she raises her hand as she has been instructed to do. Similarly, B and C raise their hands at the sight of two red crosses. So how did A figure it out? A must of had a flash as insight, thinking as follows:

"Let me assume that I have a blue cross on my forehead. If that is so,then one of the other two , say B, would know she doesn't have a blue cross because otherwise C, seeing 2 blue crosses-mine and B's- would not have put up her hand. But this has not happened, so B and C cannot determine their color. This means that I too have a red cross."

You have two slow-burning fuses, each of which will burn up in exactly one hour. They are not necessarily of the same length and width as each other, nor even necessarily of uniform width, so you can't measure a half hour by noting when one fuse is half burned. Using these two fuses, how can you measure 45 minutes?

Light one fuse at both ends and, at the same time, light the second fuse at one end. When the first fuse has completely burned, you know that a half hour has elapsed, and, more relevantly, that the second fuse has a half hour left to go. At this time, light the second fuse from the other end. This will cause it to burn out in 15 more minutes. At that point, exactly 45 minutes will have elapsed.

Ten birds are sitting on a power line. A neighbor comes outside with a shotgun, annoyed at the birds sitting there. He shoots his gun and kills one bird.
